I wasn’t always what I am today — my story began as a distant outpost.
Sydney was originally established as a penal colony in 1788, a distant outpost of the British Empire.

Water defines me, and one of my most famous views involves a crossing that took years to complete.
Sydney is surrounded by water, most notably Sydney Harbour. The iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge took about 8 years to complete (1923–1932).
