Clue 1:
I’m not where you’d expect to find the birth of a genre that defined the Wild West.
Blackburn isn’t the obvious place you’d associate with cowboy films and the first cowboy film was filmed in Blackburn in 1899 and was called 'Kidnapping by Indians' and was two minutes long.

Long before Hollywood, early filmmakers experimented with storytelling here.
Pioneering work in early cinema happened in the town.

One short film made here in the late 1800s helped shape the future of cinema.
Kidnapping by Indians is often cited as one of the first narrative films resembling a Western.
Clue 4
Despite this, I’m better known today for industry than entertainment.
Like much of Lancashire, Blackburn grew through the textile industry.
Clue 5
Albion Mill, operated as a textile factory, both weaving and spinning, from 1856 before closing due to lack of orders in 1975, and was then used as a leisure facility until it was demolished in 2010.
