I’m a ruin, but I was once one of the most beautiful buildings of my kind in Europe.

Melrose Abbey is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of medieval monastic architecture in the UK.

A king’s heart is said to be buried here, though the rest of him lies elsewhere.

The heart of Robert the Bruce is said to be buried at the abbey, while the rest of his body lies elsewhere.

Look closely and you might find something unexpected playing music high above.

My story includes fire, conflict, and careful restoration.

The abbey was damaged multiple times during wars and later restored.
